Another relatively new and unexpected entrant into Indonesia’s garlic import market — alongside figures such as Timothy Savitri, Basuki Hariman and Martin Zefanya is RS Group, a small and largely unknown import and legal consultancy based in Semarang.

RS Group is led by Samuel Nugraha Wahyu Jati, with Eric Rahardjo Kusumo, an accountant, appearing to function as his close associate or operational counterpart. An Instagram post marking RS Group’s fifth anniversary in 2021 shows Samuel Nugraha seated at the center of the group, with Eric Rahardjo (second right) positioned prominently alongside him — reinforcing their central roles within the organization.

According to LinkedIn, Eric Rahardjo Kusumo previously worked as an Export Manager at PT Lina Cargo and PT Phoenix International Indonesia between 2019 and 2023, providing him with experience in logistics and international trade.

Trade data indicates that in 2024, RS Group mainly entered the garlic import market using two companies, before significantly expanding its footprint in 2025, when imports were conducted through nine additional CVs, many of which appear to be registered under staff or associates.
CV Deva Mahaputra, which according to Google Maps, sits at the same address as CV Vinary Indomandiri (see below) is owned by Leonardo Aryo Pamungkas and imports kitchenware.

CV Restu Samudera, owned by Samuel Nugraha Wahyu Jati & Maria Rezi Noventya, also imports small accessories.
Despite its modest physical presence and consultancy-style setup, RS Group’s affiliated companies reportedly imported garlic worth at least USD 50 million in the first ten months of 2025. How a relatively new and low-profile group was able to secure such a large volume of garlic import quotas — among the most tightly regulated in Indonesia — remains an open question...
